What is Glitch Text (Zalgo)?

Glitch text, often known as Zalgo text, Void text, or Cursed text, is a unique digital typography style that looks like it's "breaking" or "corrupting" the screen. It was popularly known for its usage in horror creepypastas and memes to evoke a sense of unease or digital decay.

Technically, this effect is achieved using Unicode Combining Diacritical Marks. These represent special characters (like accents and tildes) that, instead of taking up their own space, stack vertically above, below, or through the previous character. By stacking many of these marks at once, the text appears to "glitch" vertically.

How to Use the Glitch Text Generator

  1. Enter Text: Type the message you want to corrupt in the input box.
  2. Adjust Intensity: Use the slider to control the "chaos level". Low levels add subtle noise; high levels create a dense "void" effect.
  3. Customize Distortion: Toggle the checkboxes to choose if the glitch goes Up, Down, or Through the text.
  4. Copy & Paste: Click the copy button and paste your cursed text on Discord, Twitter, Instagram, or gaming profiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this work on all social media?

Most modern platforms (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) support Zalgo text. However, some platforms might limit the vertical height to prevent spam, so extremely high intensity might get cut off.

Is Zalgo text a virus?

No, it is just text. It uses standard Unicode characters. It cannot harm your computer or device, although excessive amounts can sometimes cause lag in older browsers.
