What is a Dead Pixel?
A dead pixel is a pixel on a display that fails to light up, appearing as a tiny black dot. It is usually a manufacturing defect or a result of physical damage.
Dead vs Stuck Pixels
⚫ Dead Pixel
Permanently off. Appears as a black dot on a white background. Very hard to fix.
🔴 Stuck Pixel
Permanently on. Appears as a bright Red, Green, or Blue dot. Can sometimes be fixed by "flashing" colors rapidly.
Acceptable Defect Policy (ISO 13406-2)
Most manufacturers follow the ISO 13406-2 standard, which allows a certain number of dead pixels (usually 3-5) before a monitor is considered "defective" for warranty replacement. Always check your specific warranty!
